Rescued From the Rejection Blues

I am a bit overwhelmed and tingly from the ideas and support.
(Had to take a bath before I wrote this!)

First to Nicolas: (Zefrog)
Merci beaucoup! Vous etes tres tres gentile!
I am afraid both you and The Universe are about to turn my head in favor of Frenchmen again.
(Which is wonderful because I loved them so in the first place and this is what made it so frustrating!)

Second to Johnny:
How can I express to you how much it means when you take in your palm my heart’s desire and say you will help give it wings? It is an un-quantifiable gift.

Third to Rhett:
You are my everyday laughter and comfort. I adore you beyond words.

Your promise of a different future and an escape plan bring the light of hope into my every movement, every day, all day, all night. The day you came into my life was truly a blessing.

Fourth to Luciano:
I understand what you mean. And in many ways, you are right, although I don’t know if I would be so harsh as to say ‘ignorance’.

But I know he found the Blog because he found my Courtesan Website first, was intrigued, called me and I directed him to the Blog. So he may have had some very specific notion in mind when he began to read and didn’t find what he thought he might.

Sometimes, it’s hard to tip your mind upside down when it’s already heavily weighted in one direction.

Personally, I am a bit insecure as to my own writing abilities and he may have that in mind as well. I was just sad that the glimmer of hope was so quickly dashed.

He very kindly answered my last email:

I need to read Wolf's book. Thanks for reminding me.
And from what I've heard that could certainly be a valid template.
Drop a line when you've got something you think you'd like to share.
And I'll check in from time to time.
All best,
(…)

So in the end, he was quite open-minded.
I obviously just wasn’t for him.
At least I hope it’s that and not the quality of the writing.
Especially since these are just Blogs and first drafts.

In any case, thank you and please keep giving me your suggestions. They act as Muses and inspiration.

Love,

Persephone

Books to soothe a Courtesan's Heart

There are many courtesan positive books on the markey today: some in unlikely places
1.Robert Heinlein
Stranger in a Strange Land
I will fear no Evil
Time enough For Love
To sail beyond the Sunset
2.Theodore Sturgeon
GodBody (very hard to find)
alchemy & sexuality
3.Lindsay Clarke
The Chymical Wedding
has as a theme that alchemy provides method of making love "to sooth the wound in God's heart"

I could go on, but maybe perusing these novels may give you some approach to how to deal with your book

rejection slips are par for the course. I believe Stephen King wallpapered a wall with his

AS far as lack of narrative strain refer your "editor" to Robert Fulgum's numerous books

From what I read in your rejection entry it seems editor was uncomfortable with idea of Courteseanship (hood? ism?)

Because your subject matter doesn't fit tidily into one neat category is no reason not to continue. All good books , I believe, are autobiographical in Nature and all books on the art of writing stress write what you know.

God's delay's are NEVER God's denials. You have a calling to share and enlighten people who desperately need to hear what you have to say
as always
your PITA

BTW I would have used HTML links for books had I known how. You can find most of these at Amazon some for .01

Arrrggh Matey,

Some people just don't know what's good for them. I think ole Winy
Churchill said something like success is 10% inspiration, 90% perspiration.
Just gotta keep on pluggin. In the meanwhile you lighten my day.

Don't be afraid. Just do it (as in the Nike commercials) When I was a lot younger i used to paint ceramics. No reason just felt like it. Got good enought that i coulda done it for a living. Every single one of my friends who were inspired to try got caught in a web of fear and attachment. What if i do it wrong, what if i fail? I just told them paint it over till you liked it. The only way to to fail is not to do. Your voice on the web speakes loudly and clearly amd eloquently. You've already done the hard part. Just transfer your voice to paper You can't fail if you do it and there is no wrong.

Thanks Skarlet. And thank you PITA. You both understand what it feels like when self-doubt creeps in. I am back on the saddle (so to speak) (in more ways than one) (so to speak) and I thank you for the lift up!

I'm pretty sure you can leave that space blank or if not put a ficticious e-mail address in. This just creates a hypertextlink ito your name on skarletts blog for people to answer back to. Computer won't know it's fake and anyone writing to e-mail address will get a bounce message that there is no such person or site. Be creative: for example
budgie@birdspeak.com or get an online acct and use that for anything that requires your e-mail, then every so often dump contents. Since this not your real acct you can reliably assume that nothing there is imporrtant, just junque, spam or someone you don't wish to speak with. I use my IWON.com acct like this

apprently my example for a ficticious e-mail acct was not fantastic enough. There actually is a domain name www.birdspeak.com and apprently someone named budgie has an account there as I have recieved no bounce letter for bad user at domain name.
